When I moved to New Zealand in late 2013, I came for love, to be with my kiwi wife and to start a family. But I soon found myself missing the taste of home…

I started experimenting with recipes to create some of my favorite Danish dishes, soon finding myself taking requests from Danish friends in New Zealand to make their favorites too! Fast forward to April 2021, encouragement from friends and family inspired me to take my passion for Danish cuisine further, and ‘Danish Delicacy Catering Co’ was born.

Between working full time, our three young boys, and country-wide lockdowns, plans to get in to the food business progressed slowly, however by October 2021 we had everything we needed in place to get started. We are now ready and very excited to showcase a very popular part of the Danish cuisine to the people of Auckland.

We are passionate about enjoying only the highest quality smørrebrød, the same way it has been done for almost 150 years in Denmark. The menu is brimming with classic Danish smørrebrød and a few kiwi-inspired creations, all made with the best ingredients and always freshly-made to order.

While smørrebrød is traditionally enjoyed for lunch it is wonderfully versatile, a perfect fit for most occasions where you are looking for a great food experience and a taste of Danish “hygge”.

We ordered a box of 8 open sandwiches for our Christmas Lunch to serve with a larger grazing table. Most of the guests had not tried Danish cuisine before, but we had RAVE REVIEWS all around on the smørrebrød! Delicious flavor combos, filling, and exciting for people to try something unique with a fine-dining feel. We were so grateful that Jacob and Bree were able to cater perfectly to our vegan and pregnancy-friendly requests also. Very impressed! Highly recommend it for functions!
